This report explains how the new process for selecting and implementing innovation projects within Cerbios-Pharma SA has been developed. Firms have scarce resources and innovation is risky, thus organizations cannot innovate at random. One of the challenges in innovation management is the selection and implementation of innovation projects. The process described in this report has been created to be both efficient and flexible. The flexibility was necessary because Cerbios-Pharma SA, wanted a single process for evaluating a range of projects that are very different from each other. It has been inspired by Cooper s (1990, 2008) stage-gate model, but several modifications have been applied. The methodology used is based on Arbnor Bjerke s (2009) system approach. This report, which also provides a review of the literature on the selection of innovation projects, can arguably be used as inspiration to recreate the process within firms with similar characteristics to Cerbios-Pharma SA.
